PROTEST
– NEW YORK CITY – TUESDAY, FEB. 25
DHS/ICE, Border Patrol:
OUT OF CUNY NOW!
TUESDAY,
FEBRUARY 25, 3:30 P.M.
Outside
John Jay College (New Building), 59th Street between
10th & 11th Aves.
Beginning this Tuesday, February 25, agencies of the
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) – which the mass
deportation machine of Immigration and Customs
Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol are part of – will
be recruiting at a job fair at the City University of
New York’s John Jay College. They’re trying to recruit
shock troops for the anti-immigrant, racist onslaught
of raids and deportations – right here at CUNY! The
CUNY Internationalist Clubs call on all defenders of
immigrant rights and opponents of police-state terror
to join us this Tuesday in front of John Jay, in a
rally of protest and exposure demanding DHS/ICE,
BORDER PATROL: OUT OF CUNY NOW! We say: Stop the raids
and deportations! ICE out of New York!

Together with the New York State Division of Homeland
Security, Homeland Security Investigations New York,
and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the John Jay
job fair, scheduled for February 25-27, features a
raft of military recruiters and repressive agencies.
These range from the NYPD and the Corrections
departments of New York and New Jersey to the U.S.
Marine Corps, plus state patrols, local police and
sheriff’s departments, from California to Vermont,
Texas to North Carolina to Atlanta, Georgia – home of
the massive “Cop City” police repression training
center.
The John Jay job fair even includes recruiters for
the Sheriff’s Office of Loudoun County, infamous as
the epicenter of ultra-racist “massive resistance” to
school desegregation in the 1950s – and now for its
crusades against Black History teaching and against
the rights of gay, lesbian and trans students.
Building on its predecessors’ record of ramping up
the deportation machine, the new U.S. administration
vows mass deportations, seeks to sow fear among
immigrant communities, and tries to silence those
opposing this racist onslaught. Here at CUNY, the
largest urban public university in the United States,
a huge number of us come from immigrant families, and
all of us have immigrant classmates, coworkers and
friends. In NYC, we have a lot of potential power:
almost half the city’s workforce was born in another
country. Will we be silent, or cower in fear, as the
feds and their local accomplices try to recruit the
shock troops for the anti-immigrant campaign? What do
you say? Join us to say loud and clear: Hell no! Come
out to the protest this Tuesday to demand: DHS/ICE,
Border Patrol: Out of CUNY Now! ■
